Be Part of a Stronger Local Food System

A thriving local food system doesn’t happen on its own — it grows through the everyday actions of community members, farmers, food makers, and neighbors working together.

Whether you’re shopping for dinner, planting a garden, volunteering your time, or supporting local organizations, there are many ways to help strengthen a food system rooted in community care, food sovereignty, and shared abundance.

Here are a few ways to get involved.

  • Shop Local

Choosing locally grown food keeps dollars circulating in our regional economy and supports the farmers, ranchers, and food producers who steward the land.

Visit farmers markets, farm stands, and local grocers to find fresh seasonal food grown right here in the Willamette Valley.

  • Join a CSA

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs allow community members to buy a seasonal share of a farm’s harvest.

CSA memberships provide farmers with reliable income while connecting households directly to the rhythms of the growing season.

  • Volunteer

Volunteers play an important role in strengthening our regional food system.

From helping at community food events to supporting education programs and market access initiatives, volunteering is a meaningful way to contribute to community food resilience.

  • Donate

Programs that expand access to locally grown food rely on community support.

Your donations help sustain initiatives that support farmers and food producers while increasing food access. Even small recurring donations help create lasting community impact.

  • Advocate

Local food systems are shaped by policy, funding, and community leadership.

Advocating for farmers, food access programs, land stewardship, and equitable food systems helps ensure that healthy food remains accessible for future generations.

  • Grow Food

Growing your own food — whether in a garden bed, community plot, or windowsill pot — helps build food sovereignty, resilience, and connection to the land.

Learning to grow and preserve food keeps local knowledge, nourishment, and abundance alive within our communities.
