Lane Local Foods is owned and operated by the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition, a nonprofit organization that has been working to secure a just and sustainable food system in Lane County, Oregon since 2000. WFFC has deep roots in the community and a vibrant passion for connecting local farmers and consumers.
Our stewardship of Lane Local Foods is motivated by two concerns:
- We want farmers to have more venues in which to sell their products locally
- We want consumers from all walks of life to have convenient access to purchasing local foods directly from farmers
Lane Local Foods online farmers market addresses both of these, offering ease and convenience to both farmers who sell and customers who buy.
The founders: Lane Local Foods (formerly Eugene Local Foods) was created by Mazzi Ernandes and Doug Frazier in 2008. Amy McCann, an enthusiastic customer with a background in technology, approached Doug and Mazzi about licensing their software to other communities. Amy, Doug and Mazzi founded Local Food Marketplace in 2009 and they are now supporting 60 communities across the US and Canada in online farm-direct sales. In 2013, they generously gifted the assets of the online farmers market, Eugene Local Foods LLC, to WFFC so they could focus on growing and promoting Local Food Marketplace. Doug, Mazzi and Amy created and nurtured the online market out of their shared passion for making local food easier to access for all, and WFFC carries on in that spirit today.
